Songwriter Circles will be electronic for the summer months !!!!

With the busy summer months upon us,  it is pretty hard to meet as a group.  That doesn't mean the Songwriters' Circles will end. We will be doing our Songwriters' Circles on our YAHOO! Group!

Check out the Songwriters' Circle Page to hear some of the best songs from this month and to get next month's theme!

Underneath the bright neon lights and white sand beaches that have come to define Myrtle Beach to some, lies an underbelly of culture and a wealth of creative songwriting talent. The Carolina Organization of Area Songwriters, Troubadours And Lyricists, or COASTAL, has been formed to meet the needs and expand the artistic development of area songwriters.

COASTAL is an organization dedicated to providing education, resources and opportunities to songwriters of all genres and experience levels, while celebrating the songwriter and artist as an integral part of the cultural and artistic community at large.

COASTAL's online Forum is now it's Yahoo Group!!

"A Local Music Scene is About"

Courtesy of Phil Fox of Wicked Gift

A Local Music Scene is about making friends, meeting friends, playing with friends, and playing for friends.

A Local Music Scene is about you or someone you know as an ordinary person, getting up on stage, plugging in, and for that brief moment becoming a voice for and about life in this time, place, and situation.

A Local Music Scene is about fleeting moments of mangled MAGIC.

A Local Music Scene is not about "Star Search", (insert: "American Idol"), focus groups, or a corporate executive's pre-screened notions of what the average young meathead will find digestible with the least amount of effort. WE are the meatheads, WE'LL decide.

A Local Music Scene is about using your own eyes and ears to choose what you want to look like, sound like, and listen to. Scary, huh?

A Local Music Scene is about the freedom to try anything and to go with what works.

A Local Music Scene is about bands supporting and inspiring each other to write the best possible music and put on the best possible shows. A rising tide lifts all boats.

A Local Music Scene is about discovering and encouraging new talent.

Finally, a Local Music Scene is about realizing that one die-hard fan is equally as important as one die-hard musician. (maybe more).

We (once again) have some amazingly good original bands here in MB.

If we put the word out, and you have no interest; no harm, no foul. But if you might have an interest, and we fail to clue you in, then it's all on us.
